A Musical Journey

Live 4_edited.jpg

Mick Kyte has been writing and performing around the Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Western North Carolina and Eastern Kentucky area for more than 30 years. During a 2016 interview with Tom Netherland with the Bristol Herald-Courier, he described his musical genre as “Appalachian Soul”. Mick’s first studio album was titled “Scars - An Appalachian Soul Primer”.  He has since released 3 additional studio albums the latest being a tribute to the passing of his oldest and best friend, the album is titled "Welfare Cadillac".

Mick's home is known as the Birthplace of Country Music, Bristol, TN and this is where artists such as The Carter Family, Jimmie Rogers and Uncle Dave Macon first made their voices heard. Mick has been immersed in that musically rich culture his entire life and his music reflects it. His songs are influenced and infused with his love for Country as well as, Blues, Heartland Rock, a little Bluegrass, Gospel, Folk, and everything else he heard floating through the hills, valleys and mountains in the Southern Appalachians. His songs are mostly introspective and laced with themes that connect his perspectives with the listener through universal experiences and emotions. This integration of musical influences and universal experiences is how Appalachian Soul was born.

Feel the rhythm of Mick Kyte's music as it pulsates through the Eastern Tennessee valleys, echoing in the Western Virginia hills, casting a spell over Western North Carolina, unfolding in the mysterious landscape of West Virginia, and dancing through the picturesque regions of Eastern Kentucky. Mick Kyte's music knows no bounds. Surrender to the rhythm, melody and harmony.
